Sidney Kirschner
Retired Chairman and CEO
Northside Hospital
A resident of Atlanta for more than 25 years, Sidney Kirschner has been affiliated with Northside Hospital for more than a decade. He served on the hospital's board of directors since 1984 and was elected chairman of the board in 2001. Kirschner was named president and CEO in 1992, and retired from active service in 2004. Before joining the hospital, Kirschner was the chairman, president, and CEO of National Service Industries (NSI), a Fortune 500 company.

Kirschner was born in Ottawa, Canada in 1934 and was raised in New York. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in mining engineering from the New Mexico School of Mines in 1956. After graduating, Kirschner joined Aerojet-General Corporation as an engineer. He rose through the management ranks in jobs at Aerospace Corporation, Curtiss-Wright Corporation and General Dynamics Corporation from 1960 to 1973. He left General Dynamics as president of the Electric Motor Division to join NSI.

Since becoming president and CEO of Northside Hospital, Kirschner has championed a dedication to service excellence; raised the level of commitment to community service; and helped to expand the hospital's service area with a number of new service delivery sites. In addition, he was instrumental in helping the hospital "birth" a $34 million Women's Center which opened in May 1999. The center has received regional and national recognition.

In addition to his commitment to Northside Hospital, Kirschner has served on the board of directors for the American Red Cross, VHA of Georgia, Georgia 1st, Principle Healthcare of Georgia, Atlanta Chapter American Cancer Society, Atlanta Jewish Federation, Sandy Springs Revitalization, Inc., United Way, and Georgia State University School of Policy Studies. He is a long-time member of the board of directors of the American-Israel Chamber of Commerce, SE Region and chairs AICC's Medical Committee which organized the acclaimed Southeast-Israel Medical Technology Business Exchange in 2002.

Kirschner is a father of three and has five grandchildren. He and his wife Carole reside in Sandy Springs.
 
Mike Levin
Executive Director
Southeast Council of the American Electronics Association
Mike is the Executive Director of the Southeast Council of the AeA, the American Electronics Association. AeA is the nation’s largest trade organization for the technology industry with 3000 members. The SE Council covers the states of Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, and Mississippi. As Executive Director, Mike is involved in directing all facets of the association’s activities including lobbying state governments, working with C-level executives from technology companies, conducting educational and networking programs, and offering valuable business services.

Mike has an extensive and comprehensive background bringing over 30 years of relevant experience to AeA. He has owned two small businesses and was the President of the US marketing and education office of the International Coffee Organization for nine years. Among Mike’s many responsibilities, he managed a nationwide field marketing force and directed the field research that led to the creation of iced coffee beverages, e.g. “Frappucinos.”

Mike also has served in executive positions in association management for 20 years including as a senior executive for an association management company. During that time, he served as Executive Director of five different trade associations including a national medical foundation and national trade associations in the food and trade show industries.

Other positions Mike has held include legislative aid in the Florida House of Representatives; Grants Coordinator and Program Manager for the Florida Department of Community Affairs: Governmental Affairs and Marketing Manager for a solar energy company; and Assistant City Manager in Portage, Michigan.

Mike currently serves on the Board of Directors of the FIRST Robotics Peachtree Regional Competition, where he is also a judge, and has also been a judge at the International FIRST Robotics Competition; the Southeastern Software Association; and the Metropolitan Atlanta Telework Advisory Council.

Mike has a Masters Degree in Administration from Florida State University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from the University of Florida.

 
Laurie Olivier
Partner
Veritas Venture Partners
Laurie Olivier is a partner of Veritas Venture Partners, a veteran VC firm in Israel, and manages its Atlanta office. In his capacity as a general partner of Veritas’ latest fund, VVP II, he serves on the boards of an enterprise software company, ClickFox Inc., and a medical device company, CytoDome Inc.. He is a member of various technology related industry forums, and currently serves as vice chairman of the AICC, and chairman of its Telecommunications Committee.

Laurie has been involved in venture capital since 1990. As Senior Business Development Manager and SVP Private Equity at Anglo American (AA), a leading global mining concern, he represented AA's interests in a number of venture funds, including the AAV fund managed by Veritas. He served on the boards various AAV portfolio companies. He was also a board member of MCPEPA (an East Asian private equity fund) and MCA (a South African VC fund - Chairman of the Investment Committee).

At AA, he pioneered the establishment of new technology-driven businesses, and served on the boards of a variety of publicly traded and privately held businesses, including Anglo American Industrial Corporation Ltd and some of its joint venture companies with major East Asian corporations. He currently serves as a technology commercialization advisor to a major government controlled research organization in South Africa and to the University of Pretoria.

Laurie was born and raised in South Africa, and holds a B.Engineering (Electronics) from the University of Pretoria, and a B.Com (Hons) and Dip. Datametrics from the University of South Africa.
