Baran Telecom
Omer, Israel-based global provider of engineering, technology and construction solutions established its communications division US headquarters in Cumming, Georgia in 2004. Baran Telecom provides a wide range of comprehensive integrated services to the global telecommunications industry including program management, site acquisition, leasing, zoning, civil engineering / construction, and equipment installation. Customers, include wireless and wire line service providers, equipment manufacturers, and tower companies. Baran’s Southeast region revenue grew by 120% in 2006 and achieved an increase of 70% in direct employees, with subcontracting activities accounting for an additional 150 indirect jobs. Among the major deals was a technology upgrade for Ericsson at 672 sites.

Delek US
US subsidiary of Netanya-based holding company was established in Brentwood, Tennessee as a diversified energy business. Delek US operates a high conversion, moderate complexity independent refinery in Texas with a design crude distillation capacity of 60,000 barrels per day along with an associated crude oil pipeline and light products loading facilities. Their marketing segment sells refined products on a wholesale basis in west Texas through company-owned and third-party operated terminals. Their retail segment markets gasoline, diesel, other refined petroleum products, and convenience merchandise through a network of 502 company-operated retail fuel and convenience stores in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and Virginia.

Provider of broadband access solutions for cable and telecommunication operators, wireless internet service providers, utilities and enterprise with products that expand the cable operators’ capacity in the “Last Mile” and wireless broadband solutions that enable utilities and other customers to operate private wireless networks for communications to their remote assets and customers. Integra 5 • Knology
From its R&D headquarters in Rehovot, Israel, Integra 5 develops services bundles---voice, video, data, and mobile---into new communications and content for real-time delivery across multiple TVs and PCs within the home. West Point, Georgia-based Knology provides TV, phone and Internet services to subscribers in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina and Tennessee. The companies met at the AICC-sponsored US-Israel Broadband Business Exchange, and subsequently, Knology chose to deploy Integra 5’s i5 CSP product and offer their pre-packaged TV Caller ID application to its entire subscriber base. In just one month of offering the service, Knology experienced a 33% take rate, allowing the company to upsell subscribers to a higher, digital TV service tier, generate new revenue streams, and increase customer loyalty.

Life Therapeutics • GammaCan
Clarkston, Georgia-based Life Therapeutics
is the global market leader in the collection and supply of hyperimmune plasma and highly specific diagnostic tests for blood-borne diseases and blood-clotting disorders. Kiryat Ono, Israel-based GammaCan is biopharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of safe and effective therapies to treat cancer and other disease. The two companies are partnering to develop VitiGam, an innovative anti-cancer product designed to target metastatic malignant melanoma patients with Stage III and IV disease. If clinical trials prove successful and achieve regulatory approvals, estimated sales could exceed $500 million. The two companies received a $1 million BIRD grant to develop this product and begin clinical trials.

The Metro Atlanta Chamber
was seeking a unique product to showcase companies in the Atlanta region and help drive economic development through its new Technology Industry Expansion initiative. They participated in AICC’s November 2006 business mission to Israel, and along with Suwanee, Georgia-based GeoSpatial Metrics---met Ramat Gan, Israel-based d&a High Tech Information, a developer of unique business visualization “technology maps” that facilitate business and investment relationships. The two companies created a dynamic, web-accessible product that shows all of the companies structured in “Ecospheres” based on their core industry. As a result, MACOC has the ability to cross sell location-based services and is already actively pursuing synergistic relationships with local governments and educational institutions.
